This course reviews the function and structure of the urinary and reproduction system. The male and female genital system is discussed as well as a review of the common diseases and disorders related to this system.

 

Objectives:

Lesson 1: Anatomy and Function

  • Explain the role the kidneys play in the urinary system and describe their purpose
  • Match male reproductive body parts with their functions
  • Label a diagram of the female reproductive anatomy with the correct terms

Lesson 2: Structure and Format of Chapter 14

  • Identify specificity needed to code for Genitourinary conditions
  • Identify genitourinary symptoms coded to the Symptoms, Signs, and Abnormal Findings chapter

Lesson 3: Diseases of the Urinary System

  • Determine when to assign combination codes for hypertensive kidney disease
  • Distinguish the different types of cystostomy complications

Lesson 4: Diseases of the Genitourinary Tracts

  • Identify the classifications for causes of male infertility
  • Assign codes for vulvovaginitis due to specified organisms
  • Select the appropriate codes for the patients with cystoceles and uterine prolapse
