This module provides a review of the function and structure of the GI tract, as well as related terminology. Learners will review the cells and layers through the digestive system, as well as discuss common diseases and disorders in this system. Topics such as ulcers, infective conditions, Crohn’s disease, obstruction, and volvulus are covered.

•Identify different regions of the small and large intestines.
•Identify code blocks for ICD-10-CM digestive system diagnoses.
•Differentiate between hemorrhage and bleeding in ICD-10-CM.
•Differentiate between different types of peptic ulcers.
•Identify locations of hernias on an anatomical diagram.
•Differentiate between various codes for colon polyps.
