Description
This module presents the fundamentals necessary to apply codes for diagnoses of the endocrine system as well as disorders of nutrition and metabolism.
This module is comprised of four lessons:
•Overview of the endocrine system, nutrition, and metabolism.
•ICD-10-CM coding in the endocrine, nutritional, and metabolic systems.
•ICD-10-CM coding practice.
Objectives
•Identify the purpose of the pancreas.
•List the six essential nutrients.
•Explain why postsurgical hypothyroidism codes to a different category than other hypothyroidism codes.
•Utilize coding guidelines to assign combination diabetes and diabetic complications codes.
•Apply ICD-10-CM coding principles and guidelines to selected endocrine, metabolic, and nutritional conditions.
•Given a diagnostic statement or case study, assign ICD-10-CM codes.
