Introduction to ICD-10-CM




This module introduces the ICD-10-CM code set, coding format and structure, and general coding conventions. This module also provides an overview of the history and background of ICD-10, and a thorough review of the coding guidelines for ICD-10-CM.

•Locate the ICD-10-CM Official Coding Guidelines on the Internet.
•Describe ICD-10-CM code format and structure.
•Differentiate between Excludes1 and Excludes2 notes.
•Identify a valid ICD-10-CM code.
•Utilize the Table of Drugs and Chemicals to assign an underdosing code.
•Assign ICD-10-CM codes when given index and tabular listing entries.
