  • Classify types of requests which require patient’s authorization
  • Differentiate between the various types of requestors and the reason information is requested

Lesson 2: Understanding Authorization Requirements

  • Recognize the required elements of a valid authorization
  • Define a Personal Representative and provide some examples
  • Apply methods for validating an authorization as well as a patient’s identity before completing a request

Lesson 3: Legal Requirements for Releasing Records

  • Describe the federal laws governing ROI including the Minimum Necessary standard
  • Define Accounting of Disclosures
  • Compare State Laws and Federal Laws​
  • Examine timeframe requirements for releasing information
