Description

Does coding for sepsis ever get easier? Once you listen to this webinar, we think it will! In this webinar, we will discuss the evolution of diagnostic criteria for sepsis and how that has impacted the coding industry. We will dive deep into the guidelines, address documentation issues, and offer a course of action for those clinical denials that masquerade as coding denials.

Objectives:

  • Compare and contrast Sepsis-2 and Sepsis-3 criteria
  • Identify documentation requirements for assignment of a code from subcategory R65.2, Severe sepsis
  • Determine when to query for sepsis
  • Illustrate the process for appealing sepsis denials

I would like the information to be directed towards SNF/LTC facilities. These are not considered inpatient nor outpatient but post-acute or admitting directly from home or another facility.
