Description

The intricacies of coding for oncology cases using both ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS are often taken for granted. In this webinar, we will examine coding guidelines and commonly miscoded cancer diagnoses. We will also address coding for common therapies for cancer, including new technologies for biologic response modifiers.

Objectives:

  • Differentiate between current and history of cancer
  • Apply coding guidelines and tabular sequencing instruction when coding complications of cancer
  • Identify cancer therapies coded to the New Technology section in ICD-10-PCS
  • Determine when to use the seventh character “X” for diagnostic procedures

I enjoyed learning about using anemia with malignancy….when and how. I also found the slide about coding pathological fractures due to neoplasm helpful.

So much good and informative information. The info on Tamoxifen was new to me as I had always thought it was given for the history of cancer. The radiation information was very helpful

The anemia guidelines had always been confusing for when we code primary vs secondary, but this really explained it well. I will approach the cancer/anemia coding differently (and better) going forward.
