Description
Vascular interventional radiology is one of the most difficult areas of CPT coding. Understanding the rules is one thing, but applying them is a whole other webinar. This is that webinar series! This presentation is for the coder who has some experience in VIR coding and would like to expand their knowledge by working through some cases. This step-by-step demonstration will walk through authentic procedure reports while the presenter discusses pertinent anatomy and coding guidelines. In Part 2, we code embolization, thrombectomy, and thrombolysis procedures.
Objectives:
- Identify an operative field for the purpose of embolization
- Determine when a code for diagnostic angiography can be coded with an embolization
- Distinguish between primary and secondary thrombectomy
- Assign CPT codes to procedure reports
