Description
Haugen Consulting Group is excited to provide this 2-part series on coding for vascular interventional radiology (VIR) procedures. While VIR procedures are widely discussed for CPT, many inpatient coders are left scratching their heads. In part 1, we will explore the PCS tables for angioplasty, stenting, atherectomy, and thrombectomy and thrombolysis. We will also talk about imaging codes, documentation requirements, and coding guidelines.
Objectives:
- Apply coding guidelines for procedures performed on bridging lesions
- Recognize thrombectomy performed using a stent retriever
- Select the approach for VIR procedures
- Select the root operation for interventional procedures performed on bypass grafts
- Assign codes to procedure reports

57 reviews for Breaking Down Vascular Interventional Radiology Coding for ICD-10-PCS: Part 1
Learn so much from Haugen webinars. So many types of grafts. Slides are great resources. I can always use a refresher on vascular. So much to remember. Very thorough. Thanks Kristi.
There are so many different types of unblocking arteries, angioplasty, stents, clot retriever, ect.,Technology changes so fast & we need to keep current on all the new methods used to treat these ateries.
I have a lot to learn still!
Great presentation
I have a better understanding of the coding the root operation vs body area for regional artery procedures.
All of your covered topics are awesome! I appreciated the reminder of difference of Inspection versus Procedure for selection of furthest or nearest location
Effective presentation. All helpful information.
I don’t think I can pinpoint one key concept as it was all very helpful
The revision explanation towards the end was a good reminder.
I would love to see more on this subject maybe with more case studies.
It is the provider’s responsibility to document if the dx was evaluated as to whether it can be coded.
