So many PCS substances, so little time! Whether you are coding using the book or an encoder, it is critical to know when you should be coding in the New Technology section versus another section. This is especially true for Introduction codes, which can be classified to the Administration section or New Technology section. This webinar will demystify the new technology tables and give tips on when to use codes from the 3E0 (Introduction) table versus the XW0 (New Technology Introduction) table.
Objectives:
- Identify three PCS procedures/substances that generate a New Technology Add-on Payment (NTAP) under the Medicare Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS)
- Utilize the PCS index, Device Key, and Substance Key to determine if a procedure/substance should be coded to the New Technology section
- Differentiate between monoclonal antibody administration for COVID-19 vs. cancer therapy vs. other therapeutic purposes
