Description
Join us for Coding for Eye and Ear Procedures to give second sight to coding for procedures on the eyes and ears. Our exploration of the senses begins with a review of anatomy pertinent to code assignment and an overview of common ocular procedures such as cataract extraction, glaucoma surgery, vitrectomy, strabismus surgery, and nasolacrimal probing. We will then take an anatomical journey from external to inner ear, covering procedures such as myringotomy, tympanoplasty, ossicular chain reconstruction, and cochlear implants. All of this and more as you look and listen!
Objectives:
- Identify the acronyms OD and OS
- Assign codes for resection and recession of extraocular muscles
- Determine when to assign a code for cerumen removal
- Recognize the bones that make up the ossicular chain
