Description

Join Haugen Academy for Peripheral Interventions in the Cath Lab! This webinar provides coders with a practical introduction to peripheral vascular interventions commonly performed during congenital cardiac catheterization procedures. Participants will review normal cardiovascular anatomy and circulation, congenital cardiac anatomy, and the physiologic abnormalities that drive interventional treatment. The webinar focuses on vessel selection concepts, angioplasty, stenting, embolization, venous interventions, and biopsy procedures frequently encountered in congenital interventional cardiology. Using congenital cardiac case examples, attendees will learn to identify reportable procedures in complex catheterization reports and apply CPT® coding principles to peripheral interventions performed on pediatric and adult patients with congenital heart disease.

Objectives:

  • Describe normal cardiovascular anatomy, circulation, and congenital cardiovascular abnormalities commonly encountered in congenital interventional cardiology
  • Identify peripheral vascular interventions commonly associated with congenital cardiac conditions, including angioplasty, stenting, embolization, venous interventions, and biopsy procedures
  • Apply CPT® coding principles to congenital interventional cardiology documentation to accurately assign codes for peripheral vascular procedures
