Product Description
Accurate secondary diagnosis reporting requires more than identifying conditions documented in the medical record. This webinar examines the coding guidelines and documentation requirements used to determine when an additional diagnosis is reportable across inpatient, outpatient, and professional fee settings. Learners will review clinical significance and supporting documentation, apply additional diagnosis and MEAT criteria, and explore differences between facility and professional coding, including single-path workflows. The webinar also examines how appropriate diagnosis assignment can affect medical necessity, reimbursement, severity reporting, and HCC risk adjustment.
Objectives:
- Apply additional diagnosis reporting guidelines across inpatient, outpatient, and professional fee settings
- Identify documentation that supports clinically significant and reportable secondary diagnoses
- Evaluate how appropriate secondary diagnosis assignment affects coding, medical necessity, reimbursement, and risk adjustment

I do not like having both inpatient and outpatient in the same webinar. I do not want to sit through education on something that does not pertain to me.
very informative
This was good. More examples would be great.
Very Helpful
engaging
I would like to see this possibly broken out for IP only with more case examples. It can be difficult at times to know for sure if the condition is codable.
a lot of extra details were mentioned that would be nice to have on the slides so it could be used in future recall. I won’t be able to remember everything in a couple of months
Course long and fast

Is it Clinically Significant? Applying Additional Diagnosis Guidelines
My only recommendation would be to break inpatient and outpatient coding apart. Include from coding guidelines the definition of chronic condition and point out it says “may” report. It helps support the UHDDS of other diagnosis re: clin. Sig
Appreciate the humor.
The course was very informative and useful
I love the scenario, it helped to understand the concept /guidelines better.
Good information
guidelines I feel are always great webinars to do at least once a year!
I liked that there were several examples given and I enjoyed the pop up questions throughout.
It was great
So Good! Thank you!
