In her role at Haugen Consulting Group, Amy Richardson leads a team of auditors and consultants in delivering innovative solutions and measurable results for healthcare organizations. With a collaborative approach, she partners with clients to improve performance, identify key business challenges, and develop customized, practical strategies. In addition to her leadership role, Amy serves as Haugen’s Privacy Officer, ensuring compliance and safeguarding sensitive information.
Amy brings over 30 years of experience in the health information management (HIM) field. Before joining Haugen, she held leadership positions in health information management and electronic health record (EHR) implementations. She also served as an adjunct professor at Regis University and the University of Cincinnati, where she taught and mentored students pursuing careers in healthcare.
An active member of AHIMA, Amy has served in multiple leadership roles within the Colorado Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) and was recognized by her peers as CHIMA’s Distinguished Member in 2019. She is a sought-after speaker, presenting locally and nationally on topics such as HIT leadership, legal health records, disclosure management, and ICD-10 implementation. Additionally, she has contributed to publications and educational content on denials management, release of information, document imaging, electronic records, and legal medical records.
Amy earned her Associate’s degree in Health Information Technology from Ferris State University in Michigan and her Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. She is credentialed as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA).
Residing in Michigan, Amy enjoys making the most of lake life during the summer, relaxing by the beach and on the water. In her free time, she loves road-trip adventures, exploring new places, kayaking, and attending different festivals.
