Lalaine is a senior coding quality auditor for The Haugen Consulting Group with over 20 years of coding experience. Over the course of her career, Lalaine has served as an inpatient and outpatient medical coder, progressing to roles as an auditor and trainer. Lalaine has expertise in coding, auditing and training all service lines, including psychiatric and behavioral health.
Lalaine has performed audits for a variety of purposes including: education, compliance, RAC, DRG validations, and CDS and Coder DRG validations. Lalaine enjoys the audit process, reviewing coding assignments, digging into the clinical documentation and then working with clients to share opportunities for improvement. Lalaine has identified opportunities for clients to improve clinical documentation, identify deficiencies in processes or guidelines, and provide education.
Lalaine received her associate’s degree in health information technology from Arapahoe Community College, Littleton, Colorado. Lalaine is a RHIT.
When Lalaine is not busy performing coding audits, she enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, four grandchildren and family. Traveling the world is also their passion and they hope to visit at least a country or two in each continent. She and her husband love to do home improvements and her favorite phase of each project is decorating.
