Medicare telehealth flexibilities, set to expire on March 31, have been extended until September 30 under the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2025. This extension allows patients to continue accessing telehealth from home and maintains:

  • Expanded provider eligibility
  • Telehealth access for rural and federally qualified health centers
  • Delayed in-person requirements for mental health services
  • Approval of certain audio-only services
  • Telehealth use for hospice recertification

Without further action, Medicare’s pre-pandemic geographic restrictions will return on October 1, limiting telehealth access. Lawmakers continue to debate its future, with CMS leadership signaling support for continued expansion. Stay tuned for updates.
