Description
This course covers the musculoskeletal procedures of the head, neck, and trunk of the body, including procedures commonly performed by general and plastic surgeons. Loaded with anatomical illustrations, descriptions of procedures, and CPT coding rules, this course goes into detail on non-orthopedic musculoskeletal procedures.
In lesson 1, procedures of the head, including craniofacial operations are covered. Lesson 2 moves down the body to address procedures on the neck and thorax while lesson 3 addresses procedures on the back, flank, and abdomen. This course emphasizes depth of procedures, distinguishing codes from the musculoskeletal versus integumentary subsections of CPT.

- Locate temporomandibular joint procedure codes in the CPT book
Lesson 2: Procedures on the Neck and Thorax
- Identify excision codes in the Musculoskeletal subsection of CPT

Lesson 3: Procedures on the Back, Flank, and Abdomen
- Locate excision codes of the spine
- Differentiate between vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty
- Assign codes for treatment of spinal fractures
