Amy Richardson, Vice President Consulting & Auditing Services | Privacy Officer

In her role, Amy is responsible for leading the team of auditors and consultants in delivering results and creative solutions for healthcare organizations. Amy enjoys working with organizations and excels at working collaboratively with client partners to improve performance, identify key business issues and develop customized, workable solutions. She also is responsible for HIPAA training, privacy monitoring and documentation as it relates to the company. She brings more than thirty years of experience in the health information management field to Haugen Consulting Group.

Prior to joining Haugen, Amy served in leadership roles in health information management and electronic health record implementations. Amy was an adjunct professor at Regis University and University of Cincinnati, teaching and mentoring students to prepare them for successful careers in the healthcare industry. Amy is active in AHIMA and Colorado’s Health Information Management Association (CHIMA). Amy has held numerous board positions with CHIMA and was proud to serve as president for the 2016-2018 term. She was awarded the honor from her peers of CHIMA’s Distinguished Member in 2019. Amy has presented locally and nationally on topics such as legal health record, HIT leadership, implementation of document imaging, and ICD-10. She has also collaborated on various publications discussing denials management, document imaging, electronic records and the legal medical record. Amy earned her Associate’s degree in health information technology from Ferris State University in Michigan and her Bachelor’s degree in health information management from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. She is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA).
Amy can generally be found romping across the great outdoor spaces of Colorado and Michigan (and anywhere in-between!). She enjoys camping, hiking, snowshoeing, road-trip adventures and exploring.
