The assessment identified several opportunities within the department. The bigger challenge was implementing changes without leadership in the department. HCG proposed a unique solution; outsource the management of the department until a permanent director was hired. The model is a combination of onsite support and supplemental remote support.
Jennifer McCann, RHIA, CHPS from Haugen Consulting Group, was hired as the HIM Director and Privacy Officer in a time of need for the HIM Department. Jennifer brought HIM and HIPAA privacy expertise as well as management support for the HIM team.

As an active member of the Colorado Health Information Management Association (CHIMA), Jennifer currently serves as the CHIMA Treasurer and co-chairs the Education Committee. Jennifer is passionate about healthcare consumer education, and coordinates CHIMA’s community outreach efforts through the 9 News Health Fair program.
After earning her bachelor’s degree in political science from Wheaton College, Norton Massachusetts, Jennifer went on to earn HIM certification from Regis University, Denver Colorado.
