Description
When coding for psychiatry-related services, many different types of providers may be encountered – social workers, psychologists, and psychiatrists to name a few. But who can bill what codes? This course reviews common psychiatry services including psychotherapy, health and behavior, diagnostic tests, and even E/M visits that pertain to psychiatry.
Objectives:
Lesson 1: Evaluation and Management (E/M) Services
- Select provider types that can bill for E/M services
- Choose an outpatient E/M level using coding guidelines
- Differentiate E/M guideline differences between inpatient and outpatient services
Lesson 2: Psychotherapy Services
- Identify how to code E/M services with psychotherapy
- Choose a psychotherapy code based on different scenarios
- Recognize when interactive complexity can be reported
Lesson 3: Psychiatric Diagnostic Evaluations and Other Testing
- Identify when to code psychiatric diagnostic evaluations
- Choose the appropriate test or assessment code
Lesson 4: Health and Behavioral Services
- Determine what type of diagnosis is used for a Health Behavior Assessment
- Choose the correct Health Behavior Intervention code
