Description

Part 2 of the Cardiovascular Service Line builds on Part 1 with focused ICD-10-PCS coding guidance for the peripheral circulatory system. Learners will review procedures involving peripheral arteries, veins, stents, aneurysm repairs, AV fistulas and grafts, varicose vein treatments, and vascular access devices.

Objectives:

Lesson 1: Procedures on the Peripheral Arteries

  • Determine the body system value for different peripheral arteries of the body
  • Select the root operation for stent placement
  • Differentiate between types of aneurysm procedure approaches
  • Assign codes for procedures involving the creation of arteriovenous fistulas and grafts

Lesson 2: Procedures on the Peripheral Veins

  • Given a procedure involving a vascular access device, determine the device(s) and body system
  • Identify methods for treating procedures on varicose veins

One Port—but How Many PCS Codes? Watch this course preview to learn why catheter-tip location—not the access site—determines the vascular body part and why an implanted port typically requires a separate code for its subcutaneous component.
