Q: Can you still report the attendance at delivery code (99464) if, after evaluation of the infant, no further action is required.
A: According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (2025), a provider may report 99464 even if, after an assessment of the newborn, no further intervention is required to stabilize the infant at the time of the delivery.

Q: What services are bundled into the intensive care codes 99477-99480?
A: The list of bundled services included in neonatal intensive care codes 99477-99480 is the same as for the neonatal critical care codes 99468 and 99469, however, the list of bundled services included in hourly critical care codes 99291 and 99292 is different to that of neonatal critical care codes.

Q: What codes would we use to report intensive care services for an infant who now weighs over 5000 grams?
A: Since the subsequent intensive care codes are based on the infant’s body weight of up to, or equaling 5000 grams, report codes 99231-99233 for the infant who weighs over the 5 kg threshold. These subsequent inpatient codes can be selected based on MDM or time.
